|
Workers in special types of employment have been more instable due to exclusions from various social safety net than workers in general types of employment. Despite the relationships between insecure employment status and health, previous studies regarding workers in special types of employment had limitations because they tended to focus on legal issues. Thus this study aims to identify the impact of labor environment on self-rated health among workers in special types of employment. For data analyses, this study utilized 1,128 samples from the fifth Korean Working Conditions Survey (KWCS) data collected by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) in 2017. Results showed that higher levels of psychological environment, work and life balance environment, and higher satisfaction regarding working conditions were significantly associated with better self-rated health. On the other hand, coming to work while sick significantly predicted worse self-rated health. However, no significant relationship between physical environments and self-rated health were found. Based on these findings, ways of enhancing secure employment environments for workers in special types of employment were discussed.
